A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dave Peck has worked as a composer, arranger and pianist for twenty-eight years. He is known for his thoughtful and introspective style and rich harmonic coloring and has long been a mainstay of the Seattle Jazz scene. During Dave’s career he has been heard as a sideman with many great musicians including Chet Baker, Joe Williams, Sonny Stitt, Lee Konitz, Art Farmer and Clifford Jordan, Harry “Sweets” Edison and Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Howard Roberts, Ernestine Anderson, Gary Peacock, Pete Christleib, Bob Cooper, Freddy Hubbard, and Claudio Roditi. And in 2005, he was featured on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz.His arranging and composition commissions include works for Bud Shank (for whom he has worked with as pianist and composer since 1985), Marco Silva, Syzygy, Ernestine Anderson and Diane Schuur.
Dave has received composition grants from Meet the Composer and has six times received the ASCAP Popular Award for Composition.Formerly an Associate Professor of Music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle Dave currently maintains a private teaching studio where he teaches Jazz Composition, Repertoire, Improvisation and Piano.
